Supporting Our Seniors

Our community was built by the hard work and dedication of so many of our neighbors, who have lived and worked right here for decades. As many of our neighbors age, it is critical that we support them and ensure that they can rest easy with dignity, safety, and security. The Upper West Side, Manhattanville and Morningside Heights has many incredible senior centers, local gatherings, and ‘naturally occurring retirement communities (NORCs) - I work closely with these valuable organizations to address the varied needs of our seniors. I have fought to prevent cuts to Medicaid funding, to ensure that regulations for senior care centers have proper oversight and allow for top quality care, and worked to expand SCRIE program, giving seniors who rent protection against rising rents that would threaten them with eviction.
